Hello,
You're likely visiting this page as you navigate finding support for yourself or a loved one. I'd like to share a bit about my background and training, as well as areas of strength that may be helpful in letting you know if I would be the right counsellor for you.

I am originally from Jamaica and spent all of my childhood and teen years there. Moving from a small island to the Greater Toronto Area was a huge change in way of life and culture. This stage in life helped me understand first hand what it meant to be vulnerable in trying something completely new, and embrace change in order to grow. I understand the ebbs and flow of the immigration process and navigating new relationships in a new culture.

I have always enjoyed caring for others and have been thrilled to find my passion in counselling. I completed a Masters in Clinical Counselling with a full-time practicum in hospital chaplaincy at Brampton Civic Hospital in Ontario. There, I served in the Palliative, ICU, and Mental Health units; as well as in the ER. This was a very fulfilling experience as it built my practice in working with people of various faith and cultural backgrounds; while providing counselling for loss and grief, family dynamics, and anxiety at times of illness or life transitions.

In 2018 I started working extensively with youth who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, and thoughts of self-harm or suicide ideation. In most cases it has been important to work with the adults in their lives to provide tools for behavior challenges and mental health support. I have also provided counselling for families with historical grief and trauma. My current practice focuses on youth and families through assisting with emotion regulation and behavior change. I also provide counselling for grief and loss as I have seen the many ways that people struggle to cope with loss in their lives. Loss is not just the passing of a loved one, but can be the ending of a relationship, loss of a job, loss of a way of life, loss of expectations, and sometimes loss of hope. In my walk with you I endeavor to honor your process in building resilience. If you would like us to journey together on your road to wellness, please call or email to set up an appointment.
